What is International Quit&Win?

Quit&Win is an international smoking cessation contest for adults (detailed rules here). Smokers from all over the world will try to abstain from smoking or using tobacco for a four-week period (May 2-29). Those who have succeeded in that are eligible for the International money prizes of USD 10.000 and 6 X USD 2.500, and national prizes.

The International Quit&Win campaign, originally organized in the framework of the WHO/CINDI program, is now an international network supported by the WHO and it is open to all countries. The fifth international campaign will be organized in May 2004.

Every country arranges its own campaign, but following the common rules. The participating countries can arrange the campaign either in the whole country (=national campaign) or in restricted area(s) (=regional campaign).

Quit&Win is a practical, cost-effective evidence-based smoking cessation method for population-wide public health use. Quit&Win has proven to have the capability to reach out much more smokers and at a lower cost than most smoking cessation interventions. It has also proven to be applicable in different cultures. The success of the Quit&Win campaigns are assessed by standardized evaluation procedures.
